Gaia 3d Star Map

What stars are made of can tell us where they come from and where they’ve been, and therefore about the history of the milky way. The new map of the milky way includes information on parallax and proper motion (velocity across the sky) for more than 1.3 billion. Click here for a portrait version of this collage.
